Sometimes it takes two shoots–one for the client, and one for the client’s family–to get things just right. ;-)

We did a second round of photos for Rachel’s graduation. This time, we turned the style from laid back to simple yet chic. This time we shot where Rachel currently resides at the home of mutual friends. It’s an amazing and gorgeous house, complete with lots of French doors for natural and flattering light. Complete with fresh cut peonies, it’s hard to go wrong!

May 10th, 2010

This little post is for my dear friend Rachel who is graduating from the same design program at Long Beach State University that my husband Jason and I passed through. Rachel’s like the darling little sister I never had and after watching her stay up many a late nights working on her projects, we are thrilled that the end is in sight!

Between running around trying to wrap up her senior exhibit (next week at Long Beach State, check it out, everyone!), Rachel and I managed to dash out for the last few minutes of fading sunlight to shoot some pictures for her graduation. Notice how the light changes from the last bit of day light to the blue, cool light of evening. In any event, I think my friend looks beautiful.

Congratulations, Rachel!

When I had to think of a concept for a senior photo shoot for Ashley Sun of University High in Irvine, California, I asked myself, “Where to begin?” Ashley is one of the most well-rounded and talented kids I know: she’s a cheerleader, straight A student, into martial arts, has taken violin lessons since she was a tot, and was homecoming queen this year at her high school (Go, Ashley!).

My inspiration for Ashley drew from her skills as a violinist, however. Ashley has played in Orange County’s Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra the last several years, and there’s something simply beautiful about people with their instruments. I wanted to feature her playing against the local backdrop of Laguna Beach with the cliffs and waves at sunset. She obliged, donned on her stunning gown from homecoming, and here are the faves…

Special thanks to Jessica Hunter Artistry for her make-up work!
